For home service companies under 20 people

Your salesperson just quoted a job your installer can't build. Nobody knows yet.

The estimate went out with the wrong track, wrong operator, and a price that doesn't account for the headroom problem your installer will find on Tuesday. The customer already thinks they have a deal.

What if the estimate itself knew your install rules? What if the pricing adjusted before the quote left the building? Not because your salesperson memorized every spec — because the system did it for them.

That's what a Lagom portal does. It encodes the knowledge that lives in your head — pricing rules, install constraints, material logic — into a private system your whole team uses to quote, schedule, invoice, and get paid. One portal. Your rules. Every job.

Estimate — rule check
NO. 0047 · DOOR INSTALL
field check

Your newest salesperson is quoting a door install. Type the headroom they measured:

The portal watches this number the way your best installer would.
One rule of dozens. Your install knowledge, applied to every quote — by every employee, every time.

go ahead — try 2, then try 12

Nobody else knows the prices. Nobody else knows the rules.

That was fine at three employees. You were on every job anyway.

Now a salesperson quotes a job that can't physically be installed, and you find out at the site visit — after the customer already has a number in their head. The estimate lives in a text thread, the invoice in an app, the payment somewhere else, and you reconcile all three in your head. At night.

And the vacation where you actually put the phone down? You haven't taken it. Not because the team isn't good — because the system is you.

That's not a discipline problem. It's an architecture problem. The knowledge that runs your company lives in one place: your head. We move it somewhere your whole team can use it.

One portal. Everything your office touches.

Every piece talks to every other piece. The estimate becomes the invoice. The invoice tracks the payment. The payment closes the job. No copy-paste, no app-switching, no reconciliation at midnight.

Custom automations — we connect the tools you already use. Invoices that chase themselves, form-to-calendar, review requests after every job. One workflow, flat price.

Your install knowledge, working on every quote.

Most contractor software gives you a blank estimate and wishes you luck. Lagom encodes the rules you already know — headroom thresholds, material compatibility, labor minimums, seasonal pricing — so the system catches what a new hire wouldn't.

Your best installer's experience, applied automatically. Not as a training manual nobody reads, but as logic that runs inside every quote your company sends.

Built inside a real company. Used every day.

Lagom's first portal runs a working garage door company in the Bay Area — every estimate, invoice, payment, and schedule goes through it, daily, in the field. This isn't a product we imagined contractors might want; it's the system a real one runs on, refined by real jobs and real Mondays.

As a small family-owned business, I was using free platforms that got the job done — until they didn't. My quotes kept getting more complicated with custom line items, and there was no way to make anything feel custom for the client. A simple estimate was taking me 15+ minutes, and I had to send every option as a separate estimate, which was annoying for me and confusing for them. Now I send all three options in one link and label them however I want — Good/Better/Best, 'with motor,' 'without motor,' 'insulated' — and it just feels way more professional.

Founding Beta

10 spots

Lagom Ops is live and running real businesses today. We’re opening the platform to 10 founding clients — home service companies who want the system early, shaped around how they actually work.

What founding clients get:

Founding pricing, locked for life

Direct line to the builder

Your feedback becomes features.

County exclusivity

We take only one company per trade, per county. Your competitor doesn’t get this tool while you have it.

What “beta” means, plainly: the platform is young and actively improving. Core flows — estimates, contracts, invoices, payments — are proven in daily use, but you may occasionally hit rough edges, and we may update features as we refine. We fix fast, we communicate honestly, and founding clients are partners in making it great, not test subjects left on their own.

Beta participation is governed by our client agreement, which includes service terms and limitations of liability appropriate to an early-access product.

Straightforward pricing. No per-user games.

Setup is scoped on your call — it depends on how much of your business we're encoding. No contracts holding you hostage: the portal earns its keep monthly, or you leave with your data.

Three phases. No mystery.

1

Discovery

We learn how your company actually works — pricing rules, workflow, pain points. A real conversation, not a feature checklist.

2

Build

We encode your rules and workflow into a private portal. You review it, we adjust, you review again. Nothing launches until you say it's right.

3

Launch

Your team logs in and starts using it. We're on call for the first two weeks to catch anything that needs tuning in the real world.

most clients are fully operational within two weeks.

Your data. Locked down.

HOSTING

Dedicated server — your data never shares infrastructure with another company.

ENCRYPTION

TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest. The same standard your bank uses.

BACKUPS

Nightly automated backups with 14-day retention. Disaster recovery tested, not theoretical.

OWNERSHIP

Your data is yours. Full export anytime, no ransom, no lock-in.

Frequently asked questions

How long does setup take?
Typically about two weeks from discovery call to launch. Complex pricing rules or integrations can stretch it a bit, but most companies are live and quoting within fourteen days.
Do I need to be technical?
No. You get a login and a portal that works like the tools you already use. If you can send a text, you can run your portal.
What happens to my data if I leave?
It's yours. Full export anytime, no hostage games. We keep your data for 30 days after cancellation in case you change your mind, then it's deleted.
Does this replace my website?
No — it works alongside it. Your website is your public face; the portal is your private operations system. Customers see branded estimate and invoice pages, not the back end.
What if my pricing is complicated?
That's the point. Discovery captures your real pricing logic — headroom rules, material tiers, labor rates by crew, seasonal adjustments — and encodes it so every quote follows the same rules you would.
Which trades do you support?
Built for home services: garage doors today, expanding into HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and roofing. The portal adapts to your trade's specific workflow and pricing.
Is my customer data secure?
Dedicated server, encrypted in transit and at rest, nightly backups with 14-day retention. Your data is never shared, never sold, never used to train anything.
Can I upgrade tiers later?
Anytime. Your system grows with you — add team accounts, automations, or integrations whenever you're ready. No re-setup, no data migration.
Kay, founder of Lagom Ops Co.

Hi, I'm Kay.

Seven years inside home service companies taught me where the money leaks: the gap between the person selling the job and the person installing it. I watched owners lose thousands on a single misquoted job because the estimate didn't account for something the installer would have caught in thirty seconds.

Lagom builds the system that closes that gap — your real pricing rules, your real workflow, in one portal your whole team can use. Not software you adapt to. A system built around how your company already works.

A year from now, the knowledge is either in a system — or still only in you.

Twenty minutes. You talk about how your business actually runs; we tell you honestly whether a portal makes sense for it. If it doesn't, we'll say so.
